Victor Boniface to return in April/May — Alonso

Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso has provided an update on the return date of Victor Boniface. In his interview with Per Blind, Alonso asserted that the Nigerian forward will return to action around April/May.

“His (Boniface) development is very good; the recovery is going in the right direction. That’s very positive,” Alonso said, per Bild.

“We expect Boniface soon, I don’t know, but it won’t be until May, maybe April, and that’s very good for us, having Boniface back. Boni works very well, with great professionalism, twice a day. We need players who have the desire to be back.”

Boniface missed out on the Super Eagle’s 2023 AFCON squad after being replaced a few days to kick off the tournament.

Despite being on the sideline for three months, Boniface has been incredible for Bayer Leverkusen, where he has contributed massively—scoring 16 goals and making 8 assists in his 23 caps.
