Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday, visited the victims of the recent suicide bombings in Gwoza, Borno State.

The bombings, which occurred on Saturday, resulted in the deaths of eighteen individuals when four suicide bombers detonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs). This attack is considered one of the deadliest in the state in recent months.

During his visit, Vice President Shettima offered personal donations to the surviving victims and extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. He revealed that the death toll from the bombings had increased to 32.

Shettima also reported that 42 individuals were admitted to the specialist hospital following the attack.

Of these, 14 have been discharged after receiving treatment, while 26 remain under medical care.

The injuries sustained in the attack ranged from abdominal ruptures to skull and limb fractures.

Accompanying the Vice President were several key figures, including the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Kadafur, Senator Ali Ndume, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, former Nigerian Ambassador to China, Baba Ahmed Jidda and other government officials.
