Veteran Nollywood actor and producer Solomon Akiyesi has died.
His passing was confirmed on Monday by Abubakar Yakubu, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
Yakubu said the actor died on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Abuja, after going to bed and not waking up.
“Yes, it is true. He died yesterday. Slept and did not wake up from sleep. We await further details from the family. His body is in the morgue in Abuja, where the sad incident happened,” Yakubu said.
No medical cause of death has been disclosed, and the AGN said it is awaiting further information from the family.
Akiyesi’s remains have been deposited in a morgue in Abuja.
A native of Ososo in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, Akiyesi began his acting career in the late 1990s. Over nearly three decades, he appeared in more than 100 films, including Marry Who You Love, Kiss My Pain, Deadly Affair, Desperate Ladies, and The End Is Near.
Following the announcement, colleagues and fans have shared messages on social media, describing him as a committed performer and colleague.
The AGN, in a brief note circulated after the confirmation, expressed condolences to his family and said the industry had lost “a dedicated member whose contributions will be remembered.”
Further statements from the family are expected in the coming days.
