Afrobeats singer Davido has drawn public criticism from activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) and many social media users.
They criticised him, stating that his earlier opposition to the All Progressives Congress (APC) conflicts with his uncle’s decision to support President Bola Tinubu. Davido has not addressed the claims directly.

Davido campaigned for his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, before the 15 August governorship election. He wrote on social media, “I can never support APC in my life!!!” Adeleke ran under the Accord Party and won with 511,067 votes against the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
After the win, Adeleke declared his support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election. He then appeared on the revised APC presidential campaign council list, which was set for inauguration on Wednesday, 14 October, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
On 15 October, VDM posted a video accusing Davido of using his fans for political gain. He said: “You’re a user and a hypocrite.” He also said Davido should stay out of Nigerian politics. VDM also blamed the governor for the state of infrastructure and jobs in Osun. Davido eventually liked VDM’s post, shocking fans, who did not expect that reaction.

After news of the appointment, Davido had shared a video of his uncle dancing and singing. In an August interview with News Central, he said he had no presidential candidate and would not back Tinubu. He said of 2027: “It’s not going to be APC.” He described his uncle’s choice as a personal decision made for the state’s benefit.
Davido has not commented on the campaign council appointment or VDM’s video beyond these actions.
