US President Donald Trump Awards Tiger Woods Highest Civilian Honor

US President Donald Trump has kept his word by honoring winner of this year’s Masters Series and one of golfing greats, Tiger Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom award. The event which held on Monday in the sun-splashed White House Rose Garden makes Tiger Woods the fourth and youngest professional golfer to receive the nation’s highest civilian honor, after Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Charlie Sifford.

Tiger Woods who in his professional career has raked in 81 PGA Tour victories and is currently on course to be level with Sam Snead’s all-time record had to come back from various injuries and personal dramas most notably, a nasty divorce, drug-related offences and an arrest two years ago for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Having played with Tiger Woods a number of times and watched him secure the 2019 Masters Trophy in April, US President, Donald Trump called him “a true legend”. Mr. Trump went on to state that Tiger Woods had seen it all in life including the good, bad and ugly moments and even admitted that he (Donald Trump) would not have been here without his help.

The event had in attendance Tiger Woods’ mum Kultida, his two children, Sam and Charlie, his girlfriend, Erica Herman, and his personal caddie, Joe LaCava. Addressing his loved ones, Tiger Woods stated “You guys have meant so much to me in my life. I have battled and tried to hang in there and I’ve tried to come back and play a great game of golf again”. Many spectators have urged Tiger Woods to go on and level the record of 18 majors held by Nicklaus but the 2019 Masters Champion insists that his recent win was certainly one of his highest he had accomplished in his life on the golf course.
