US Consul General Speaks On America’s Role in Nigerian Startups

—

At the Global Tech Africa Conference in Lagos, the United States Consul General, Will Stevens, highlighted the strong link between Nigerian and African startups and the United States.
Stevens revealed that a majority of Nigerian startups and around 60% of startups across Africa are incorporated in the U.S.
This shows how important the U.S. is in Africa’s digital world.
Stevens also mentioned that over 60% of the money that helps Nigerian tech startups grow and 40% for African startups, comes from the United States.
This money is called venture capital and is very important for these startups to grow.
The American companies that are not part of the government are also helping a lot.
They play a big role in making technology better in Africa’s economy.
The U.S. Consulate said he is working closely with startups, making it easier for them to join special programs.
This helps Nigerian startups to sell their products and services to the whole world.
He revealed that the U.S. government is committed to helping Africa grow in technology.
They want to make sure that technology helps in education, healthcare, farming, and making the economy better.
For healthcare, the U.S. is working with Nigerian partners.
They are helping to make electronic health records, teach healthcare workers, and give people cheaper medicine and vaccines.
The United States has given a lot of money, over $15 billion in 20 years, to help the health sector in Nigeria.
They support different health programs to make sure people are healthy.
The U.S. knows that Africa is changing because of technology.
So, they want to work more with Africa in the digital world.
They want to make partnerships and work together to make things better using technology.
