US-Based Nigerian Professor Declares for 2027 Presidency on NNPP Platform

A United States-based Nigerian academic, Prof. Favour Ayodele Anozie, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Anozie, an Ondo State indigene and Founder/Global Executive Chairman of VisionAfrica as well as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the African Intellectual Resource Organisation, made the declaration on Friday during a meeting with the founder of the NNPP, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, in Lagos.

At the meeting, Anozie appealed to the party leadership to consider him as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

His declaration comes days after the NNPP submitted the name of a presidential placeholder to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to meet the commission’s deadline.

A professor of Management and Global Leadership at the Pontifical Antonianum University in Rome, Italy, Anozie had previously sought the presidency on the platforms of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in 2019 and 2023, respectively.

Speaking on his ambition, the professor said his presidential movement, tagged “Favour 2027,” is built on a vision to transform Nigeria through purposeful leadership and indigenous solutions.

According to him, Nigeria requires leaders who cannot be influenced by political interests and who are committed to genuine national development.

“Nigeria is our intentional project, one that must be handled with urgency through the collective efforts of people who cannot be politically bought. Favour 2027″ is equipped not only to challenge the political establishment but also to provide practical, homegrown solutions across every sector without excuses,” he said.

Anozie said his administration would be guided by what he described as “Common Sense Leadership,” which he said would operate under an “Ethicology of Governance” model. He added that his mission was to make Nigeria “a home for everyone except terrorists.”

The presidential aspirant also pledged loyalty to the NNPP, assuring the party leadership that he would abide by its constitution and place the party’s interests above personal ambition.

Acknowledging the party’s past internal challenges, particularly its fallout with its 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, Anozie urged party members not to judge him by previous experiences.

“I know the NNPP has had trust issues arising from its disagreement with its 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso. I want to emphasise that we are not all the same,” he said.

Responding, NNPP founder Boniface Aniebonam said the party already had two other presidential aspirants and would determine its flag bearer through its internal selection process.

According to him, the era of automatic presidential tickets in the NNPP is over. “There is no longer an automatic or free ticket in the NNPP. We have learned our lessons from Kwankwaso, and we have moved on. We will not allow politicians to blindfold us again,” Aniebonam said.

He disclosed that the party’s National Working Committee would meet soon to deliberate on the presidential aspirants and other issues ahead of the 2027 elections.

Anozie has over two decades of experience in administration, corporate leadership and business management, with expertise in capacity building and leadership development.

In 2023, he was named an Ambassador of Peace by the Institute of Peace and Development (INSPAD). He was also honoured by the European Technology Chamber (EUTECH) Climate Action Partnership with the planting of a commemorative tree in Africa in recognition of his contributions.

He is a former member of both the American Scientific Affiliation (ASA) and the Canadian Scientific and Christian Affiliation (CSCA).

Anozie holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in Christian Counselling from Patriot Bible University, Colorado, United States.
