The University of Jos community in Plateau State was thrown into shock and panic on Friday afternoon following the discovery of a dead baby inside a drainage system connected to a female hostel in the Naraguta axis of the campus.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the discovery came after students had reported a blocked sewage system and a foul odor.
Maintenance workers were called in to investigate, which led to the shocking finding. A porter, who requested anonymity, explained that the dead baby was believed to have been discarded in a toilet after being aborted by an unknown female student.
The incident unfolded when plumbers, sent to repair the dysfunctional toilet system, discovered the body of the baby after breaking open the pipes to locate the source of the blockage.
This discovery has left many in disbelief, with students expressing their outrage and calling for a thorough investigation to identify the responsible individual.
The university authorities have yet to release an official statement on the matter. Efforts to reach the institution’s Public Relations Officer for comment were unsuccessful, as she did not respond to calls or messages at the time of reporting
