Unidentified assailants kill man, dumps his body along the road in Anambra

The dead body of a middle-aged man who is yet to be identified was yesterday found along Eze river, Ozubulu axis of Owerri-Onitsha expressway in Anambra state.

Unconfirmed reports said the man was murdered by some unknown persons, after which the lifeless body was dumped in front of Pentecost University, Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Council Area of Anambra State.

Confirming the incident, the Anambra State Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Edwin Okadigbo said the state commandant of the NSCDC, David Bille has ordered an investigation into the incident.

“On the 14th of April, 2020 at about 09:45 am, there was a report at NSCDC Ekwusigo Divisional office that a male dead body was found lying along Owerri-Onitsha expressway by Eze river, in front of PENTECOST University Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.

“Following the report, the Divisional Officer, Deborah Anigbogu, rushed to the scene and discovered a male dead body lying along Owerri- Onitsha Express Road by Eze River in front of Penticost University Ozubulu. The photograph was taken and the area cordoned off. Preliminary investigation revealed that the young man must have been killed by unknown Persons and the lifeless body dumped last night,” Okadigbo said in a statement.

According to the statement, the NSCDC Divisional Officer had contacted the President General of Ozubulu and alerted the Environmental Health Department of the Ekwusigo Local Government to evacuate the corpse to avert health hazard to members of the public living in the area.
