UN-OCHA Launches 2025 Nigeria Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan in Abuja

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA) has unveiled the 2025 Nigeria Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP) in Abuja. 

The event brought together key stakeholders, including the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar.

In her speech, Mrs. Umar emphasized the importance of the plan in addressing the humanitarian challenges faced by vulnerable communities in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States.

She reaffirmed NEMA’s commitment to working closely with OCHA and other partners to support those in need and build resilience within affected communities.

Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, reiterated the Federal Government’s dedication to helping Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to empower them economically.

Mr. Mohammed Malick Fall, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, expressed appreciation to donor agencies and partners for their continuous support in delivering aid to vulnerable populations in the North East.

Additionally, Mr. Trond Jensen, Head of OCHA Nigeria, shared detailed projections for the HNRP in 2025, outlining its goals and priorities for the year.
