UDUS: Mass Comm Lecturer Wins Doctorate’s Scholarship to USA, Gets Award From Students

On Wednesday, 7th August, 2024, the Prad-Lab of Mass Communication department, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) was filled with lecturers and students to celebrate Mallam Idris Muhammad who secured a scholarship for his Doctorate degree at the University of Alabama in the United States of America (USA).

The celebration of the outstanding lecturer was complimented with an honorary award from Mass Communication Students Association (MACOSA) to appreciate his contribution and impact on their academic journey.

Akilu; Mallam Faruk, and numerous students of Mass Communication graced the event.

The scholarship’s winner, Mallam Idris Muhammad, who doubled as the examination officer of Mass Communication was very excited with the academic achievement. Mallam Idris expressed his best gratitude to his entire colleagues at the Mass Communication department and also sought forgiveness from whoever he might have offended, including the students.

Mallam Idris gave words of encouragement to his students, where he narrated how he started his career in journalism from 300 level as an undergraduate student at Bayero University, Kano. He cited a lot of challenges he faced but never got discouraged. He told the students that it is not too late for them to decide their future.

While reflecting on the past, Mallam Idris recalled, “I got a scholarship at Queensland University, Australia years ago, but I had an accident during that time that’s why I couldn’t make it. I thank God for another Scholarship for my Doctorate at University of Alabama in the United States of America.”

“My dearest students, I will miss your beautiful faces but flying out of the country would not stop our communication, our online class will still continue,” said Mallam Idris.
