UCL: Madrid and Manchester City reach the last eight

Defending Champions Manchester City and Real Madrid have both qualified for the quarter-final round of the UEFA Champions League following their last group games last night.

Real Madrid were held to a nervy draw of 1-1 by RB Leipzig in Spain. Vinícius Jr got Los Blanco’s only goal in the 65th minute but had it neutralized by German Willi Orbán who equalized for the visitors just 3 minutes after Vinicius’ goal. Having defeated Leipzig by 1-0 in Germany, Madrid advanced to the knock round by an aggregate of 2-1.

Premier League and Champions League defending Champions, Manchester City made it through the quarter-finals round following their 3-1 transcendent victory over FC Copenhagen at the Etihad Stadium. Manuel Akanji, Alvarez, and Erling Haaland’s goals scale City through. Although Copenhagen had one before Haaland’s last strike, that wasn’t just enough to salvage anything for the visitors.

The Sky Blues qualified with an aggregate of 6-2 with the initial tie ending 3-1 in Manchester City’s favour.
