The 2024-25 UEFA Champions League season kicked off yesterday with six games featured on Tuesday of Matchday one.
Bayern München scored nine, and Harry Kane four, to make it a prolific first night of league phase action on which the holders Real Madrid won with two late goals. Real Madrid, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Bayern Munich, Sporting CP and Juventus start the 2024-25 UCL brilliantly – winning their first games of the campaign.
Young Boys 0-3 Aston Villa
For the first time in 41 years, Aston Villa win their first game in the Uefa Champions League putting three pass Young Boys in Barns with all goals coming from Youri Tielemans, Jacob Ramsey and Amadou Onana who has now scored 3 goals in 5 games since making a switch from Everton this summer.
Juventus 3-1 PSV
The Old Ladies of Turin also overpowered PSV in their turf recording a comfortable 3-1 victory. Kenan Yıldız scored Juventus’ first goal in the 21st minute was the scorer, Weston McKennie made it 2-0. Dušan Vlahović sent González through to clip in a third on 52 minutes, with Ismael Saibari registering an added-time consolation for the visitors.
AC Milan 1-3 Liverpool
Liverpool returned to winning ways after a surprised defeat to Nottingham Forest over the weekend in their fourth Premier League matchday at Anfield. An easy outing for the Reds who immediately bounced back to level Christian Pulisic’s early goal through Konate’s effort. Virgil Van Dijk and Dominic Szoboslai also were in the score sheet for the Reds.
Bayern 9-2 GNK Dinamo
Bayern Munich ransacked Dinamo during the 11 goals thriller match. Harry Kane scored four to become the leading English goalscorer in the Champions League as Bayern became the first team to score nine in a single game. French player Michael Olise who joined Bayern this summer also scored twice in his Champions League debut. Raphaël Guerreiro also getting in on the act with the pick of the goals. Two goals in as many minutes briefly had the visitors in the game at 3-2 but Bayern then scored six times in 36 second-half minutes.
Real Madrid 3-1 Stuttgart
Real Madrid begins their title defense with an excellent victory against Stuttgart. Kylian Mbappe, Antonio Rudiger and Rodrygo’s efforts see Los Blancos through.
Sporting CP 2-0 Lille
Viktor Gyökeres and Zeno Debast scored the goals as Sporting opened up with victory over ten-man Lille, who had Angel Gomes sent off.
