The first four games (first leg) of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 were played on Tuesday night, delivering exciting results.

UCL Knockouts: Madrid, Arsenal, and Aston Villa Edge Closer to Semi-Finals with Crucial Wins

PSV 1-7 Arsenal

Arsenal demolished PSV in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League knockout round, recording the biggest away win in the tournament’s history. Jurrien Timber, Ethan Nwaneri, and Mikel Merino scored — with Merino’s goal coming in the 31st minute — to give Arsenal a 3-0 lead. PSV pulled one back just two minutes before halftime, but the Gunners stormed through the second half. A brace from Martin Ødegaard, along with goals from Leandro Trossard and Riccardo Calafiori, sealed a dominant 7-1 victory at full-time.

Real Madrid 2-1 Atlético Madrid

The Madrid derby in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 saw Real Madrid edge past Atlético with a 2-1 win at the Santiago Bernabéu. Rodrygo opened the scoring, but Atlético fought back, leveling through Julián Álvarez in the first half. Brahim Díaz, however, secured the win for Los Blancos with a crucial second-half goal.

Club Brugge 1-3 Aston Villa

Aston Villa take a commanding lead back to Birmingham after a 3-1 victory over Club Brugge. Leon Bailey opened the scoring with a half-volley in the third minute, but Maxim De Cuyper equalized nine minutes later. The second half remained tightly contested until Unai Emery’s side struck twice late on. Brandon Mechele inadvertently turned Morgan Rogers’ cross into his own net before Marco Asensio confidently converted a penalty on his Champions League debut for the club.

Dortmund 1-1 Lille

Dortmund failed to hold onto their first-half lead, conceding a second-half equalizer to Lille. Despite their early dominance, defensive lapses allowed the visitors to grab a crucial away goal, leaving the tie finely balanced ahead of the second leg.

Upcoming Fixtures

The remaining four first-leg matches of the round of 16 will be played tonight:

PSG vs Liverpool

Benfica vs Barcelona

Bayern Munich vs Leverkusen

Feyenoord vs Inter Milan

The road to the quarter-finals is heating up as more drama awaits!
