Uche Montana’s Monica 2 Crosses 11 Million YouTube Views in 3 Days

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Uche Montana’s latest film, Monica 2, has exceeded 11 million views on YouTube less than three days after its release.

The film premiered on Sunday, May 2, 2026, on her YouTube channel, Uche Montana TV. The sequel drew about 1.2 million views within the first four hours, rose to more than four million within 12 hours, and crossed six million in its first 24 hours. It reached 10 million views on Monday, May 4, and grew to over 11 million by Tuesday morning, May 5.

Reacting to the milestone on Monday night, Montana wrote on X, “10M in 2 days. No explanation, just God.”

Monica 2 continues the story of Monica, played by Montana, focusing on her relationship with her mother and her adjustment to married life. The film examines family conflict, emotional strain, and personal boundaries.

Blessing Onwukwe plays Monica’s mother, a role that has drawn strong reactions from viewers. Joseph Momodu features as her husband, while John Ekanem appears in a supporting role.

Audience responses on social media have focused on the emotional weight of the story. One viewer wrote, “I want to cry, but I remember it’s a movie you shot… congratulations.” Another described the mother character as “the most wicked towards her daughter from start to finish.” Other reactions point to the film’s themes, with one post stating, “Love shouldn’t feel like a debt you can never finish paying… It’s okay to say no.”

The film is a sequel to Monica, released earlier in 2026, which currently has about 19 million views on YouTube. The second installment builds on the original storyline and has recorded faster early growth, supported by an existing audience and increased online engagement.

The project was released directly on YouTube rather than through cinemas. One viewer said, “It felt like a crime to watch the film for free.”

The digital platform YouTube is now a stronger preference among many Nigerian filmmakers for digital distribution. Similar releases have shown that online platforms can deliver large audiences within a short period.

With its current pace, Monica 2 is expected to exceed the total view count of the first film in the coming days.
