The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has continued to demonstrate its commitment to strengthening basic education across Nigeria with the distribution of instructional materials to states of the federation.
In Nasarawa State, the government recently flagged off the distribution of about 99,776 Mathematics, English and History textbooks to 1,653 nursery and primary schools across the state. The colourful flag-off ceremony was held at the Smart School, Lafia, and attracted key education stakeholders, government officials and school administrators.
The exercise marks another significant milestone in efforts to improve access to quality learning resources and enhance teaching and learning outcomes in public schools across the state.
Speaking at the event, the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, applauded UBEC for its sustained support to the state’s education sector. He expressed appreciation for the Commission’s commitment to improving the quality of basic education, noting that the timely provision of textbooks would greatly support teachers and pupils at the foundational level.
Governor Sule reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to prioritise education as a critical driver of human capital development, stressing that access to relevant and up-to-date instructional materials is essential for effective learning.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Hajiya Aisha Garba, commended the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB) and the state government for their effective collaboration with the Commission. She assured the state of UBEC’s continued partnership and increased support aimed at strengthening basic education delivery and improving learning outcomes.
According to her, the distribution of the textbooks aligns with UBEC’s mandate to ensure that every child at the basic education level has access to quality instructional materials that support curriculum delivery and academic excellence.
The milestone underscores the shared commitment of UBEC and the Nasarawa State Government to providing quality, inclusive and accessible education for all learners, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
