UBEC Commissions State Model Smart School in Jigawa

—

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has commissioned a State Model Smart School in Hadejia, Jigawa State, marking a significant step in the Federal Government’s drive to modernise basic education delivery across Nigeria.

The newly commissioned school is part of UBEC’s Smart School Programme, an initiative designed to transform teaching and learning through the provision of modern infrastructure and the integration of digital technology into basic education.

The programme seeks to create learner-friendly environments that enhance access to quality education and equip pupils with relevant 21st-century skills.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Aisha Garba, described the Smart School Programme as a clear demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to improving learning outcomes for Nigerian children.

She noted that the initiative aligns with national efforts to strengthen the quality, inclusiveness, and relevance of basic education across the country.

According to Dr. Garba, the Hadejia State Model Smart School is equipped with ICT-enabled classrooms, modern science and technology laboratories, e-libraries, and purpose-built facilities to support learners with special needs.

She emphasised that these features are intended to promote interactive learning, improve digital literacy, and ensure that no child is left behind in the education process.

The commissioning of the Smart School represents a major milestone in UBEC’s ongoing efforts to enhance access to quality basic education nationwide.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to working with state governments and other stakeholders to expand the Smart School Programme and strengthen the foundations of Nigeria’s education system.
