Two Kidnappers Arrested as Army Rescues Retired General’s Wife in Kuje

The Nigerian Army has rescued Mrs Adonkie, wife of retired Brigadier General Basil Adonkie, after she was abducted from her residence in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Mrs Adonkie was reportedly abducted on Tuesday, September 1, prompting troops of the Guards Brigade and Army Headquarters (AHQ) Garrison to launch a coordinated operation to track the kidnappers and secure her release.
In a statement issued by the Army on Wednesday, September 2, the military said troops acted on credible intelligence and advanced through the Aco Estate–Goza Community axis, where they made contact with the kidnappers.
According to the statement, the troops’ rapid response and superior firepower forced the criminals to abandon their victim and flee into nearby bushes.
Mrs Adonkie was subsequently rescued at Angwan Sabo Village.

The Army said troops intensified the pursuit along the Aco Estate–Angwan Sayawa axis, while additional personnel were deployed to block possible escape routes and prevent the kidnappers from evading arrest.
During a follow-up operation on Wednesday, troops reportedly intercepted fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate near Gaube Village in Kuje Area Council of the FCT.
Two suspected kidnappers were arrested in the operation.
The Army also recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine and 19 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition from the suspects.
The military said clearance and tracking operations are continuing across the area as troops intensify efforts to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate.
The successful operation underscores the Army’s ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping and other security threats within the nation’s capital and its surrounding communities.
