Two terrorists, identified as Ibn Ali and Jaafar Abdullahi, surrendered to the troops of the 21 Armored Brigade Operation Hadin Kai in Bama LGA.
Their surrender, which took place on April 8, 2024, comes in the wake of intensified military campaigns and the fear of facing elimination on the battlefield, particularly following attacks by rival factions such as ISWAP.
Reports indicate that the surrendered terrorists handed over two AK47 rifles, complete with magazines, along with two bicycles and mobile phones. They are currently undergoing profiling at a military facility.
This development coincides with the tragic killing of a Lieutenant Colonel and six soldiers in the state, prompting a swift response from the army, which is now hunting down the perpetrators.
The fatal ambush by Boko Haram along the Biu-Buni Yadi road resulted in the loss of lives among the military personnel. In response, army troops launched operations in Grazah, Gwoza LGA, a known terrorist hideout.
While some terrorists were neutralized, others managed to flee to neighboring countries such as the Republic of Niger and Lake Chad to evade retaliatory attacks.

A security source revealed the tragic circumstances surrounding the loss of soldiers, who were ambushed while en route to Damaturu to purchase fuel.
“It’s very sad; they were soldiers of 135 Special Force BN FOB in Buratai. They were ambushed on their way to Damaturu, Yobe state, to buy fuel.
“Unfortunately, we lost an officer, a driver, gunner and four other escorts, while the wounded are in the hospital responding to treatment.”
Despite the valiant efforts of the troops, the insurgents, numbering in large groups, overwhelmed them in a fierce gun battle.
