Turaki-Led PDP Rejects Court Verdict, Claims Legal Authority

The Tanimu Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted it remains legally intact and fully in control, following a Federal High Court ruling in Ibadan that nullified its National Convention.

In a statement on Friday, National Publicity Secretary Comrade Ini Ememobong said the court’s decision does not threaten the party’s leadership.

The court had declined to grant the order of mandamus sought by the PDP, noting that doing so would amount to sitting on appeal over judgments of courts of coordinate jurisdiction.

Reacting swiftly, the Turaki-led leadership said it has instructed lawyers to immediately file an appeal and take all necessary legal steps to defend the party’s position.

Ememobong stressed: “Notwithstanding this judgment, our party remains legally intact and unshaken. We urge our members to stay resolute and committed. There is absolutely no cause for alarm.”

The PDP also reiterated that its Rebirth Movement remains on track.
