Due to allegations of sexual assault and frequent physical violence during their relationship, American singer Cassie has filed a $30 million lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend P-Diddy.
The troubling charges made by the singer were described in depth in the court records made accessible on Thursday, November 17, 2023. Cassie disclosed that she was only 19 years old when she first met Diddy in 2005, and that “he began a pattern of abuse,” which included physical assault and drug supply.
Diddy and Cassie started dating in 2007 and dated intermittently for over ten years, ending in a breakup in 2018. She said that in addition to the assault, the rapper had forced her to have sex with male prostitutes while he was filming. She went further to claim that, towards the end of their lengthy relationship, Diddy broke into her house in 2018 and sexually assaulted her.
Cassie emphasized that his employees frequently saw the abuse, but no one ever reported it. Her attorney stated in the lawsuit that the rapper routinely beat her up and was prone to fits of fury.
The witness statement went on to say that Diddy would stroll about with his gun to remind her that she was not allowed to escape and that even if she tried to hide from him, he would always find her.
“She told him to stop and attempted to push him away. Mr. Combs then forcibly pulled off Ms. Ventura’s clothing and unbuckled his belt. He proceeded to rape Ms. Ventura while she repeatedly said ‘no’ and tried to push him away,” the lawsuit read.
“Over the years that Mr. Combs abused Ms. Ventura physically and sexually, she again and again tried to escape his tight hold over her life. Every time she hid, Mr. Combs’s vast network of corporations and affiliated entities found her, and those who worked for Mr. Combs’s companies implored her to return to him.”
After Cassie’s disclosure caused a social media storm, Diddy’s lawyer, Ben Brafman, issued a statement on behalf of the rapper refuting all of the accusations. To which he said that for the previous six months, Cassie has been attempting to extract precisely thirty million dollars from him.
“Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations. For the past six months, Mr. Combs has been subjected to Ms. Ventura’s persistent demand of $30 million under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship, which was unequivocally rejected as blatant blackmail.
Despite withdrawing her initial threat, Ms. Ventura has now resorted to filing a lawsuit riddled with baseless and outrageous lies, aiming to tarnish Mr. Combs’s reputation and seeking a payday.”
Outraged social media users have attacked the rapper on his social media accounts despite his rebuttal. Since then, Diddy has limited the comments he posts.
