Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a cattle rustling operation in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, recovering more than 500 cattle.
The troops launched the operation on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, following a distress call from residents over the rustling of cattle at Rugar Mande Kurmin, The News Chronicle reports.
Responding swiftly, the troops mobilised to suspected withdrawal routes used by the terrorists and established blocking positions to cut off their escape.
The terrorists engaged the troops from multiple positions but were forced to retreat in disarray, abandoning the rustled cattle in the process.
The recovered cattle were subsequently handed over to their rightful owners.
The operation, according to the Joint Task Force, underscores the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protecting lives and property, disrupting criminal activities and denying terrorists freedom of movement across its Joint Operations Area.
The task force urged members of the public to continue providing security agencies with timely and credible information to aid ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist and criminal elements from the region.
