Troops Rescue Eight Kidnap Victims in Plateau Forest, Hunt Fleeing Abductors

Troops of Sector 9, Operation ENDURING PEACE, have rescued eight kidnapped victims during a daring pre-dawn offensive in Pandam Forest, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The operation, carried out at about 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, followed credible intelligence on the presence of suspected kidnappers operating within the forest. Troops deployed from Namu Town launched a coordinated assault on the criminals’ hideout as part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and enhance security across the Joint Operations Area.

During the raid, the troops came under sporadic gunfire from the kidnappers, who attempted to flee under the cover of darkness. Amid the exchange of fire, three abductees seized the opportunity to escape from captivity.

The troops immediately intensified the operation, combing the forest and rescuing five more victims, bringing the total number of rescued persons to eight.

The rescued victims are reported to be in stable condition, while arrangements are underway to reunite them with their families.

The successful operation has drawn widespread commendation from residents of the affected communities, who pledged continued support by providing timely intelligence to security forces.

Troops are currently pursuing the fleeing kidnappers with the aim of apprehending or neutralising them.

Operation ENDURING PEACE expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation and urged citizens to sustain the flow of credible information to help security agencies dismantle criminal networks and restore lasting peace across the Joint Operations Area.

The development was disclosed in a statement signed by Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, on Friday.
