Troops Rescue Abducted Corps Member in Zamfara

—

In a recent operation, troops from the 2 Battalion in Kaduna rescued another National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who had been abducted by bandits in Zamfara State. This rescue effort follows a series of abductions that occurred in August last year.
In August, eight prospective NYSC members were kidnapped by bandits while they were on their way to Akwa Ibom State, passing through Gusau.
Since then, six of the abducted corps members have been freed. The latest operation by the troops has increased the total number of rescued victims to seven.
The Director of Public Relations for the Nigerian Army, Eddy Megwa, confirmed this development to journalists in Abuja, on Friday.
He assured that the military’s efforts to rescue the remaining abducted corps member are still ongoing and expressed hope for a positive outcome.
The continuous efforts by the troops and security forces highlight the ongoing challenges and risks faced by individuals traveling through certain regions in Nigeria.
The rescue operations are part of a broader strategy to combat banditry and ensure the safety and security of citizens.
This recent success brings some relief to the families of the abducted corps members and serves as a reminder of the persistent dangers posed by banditry in the region.
The Nigerian Army remains committed to rescuing the last remaining victim and restoring peace and security to the affected areas.
