Troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2, have recorded major successes in an ongoing offensive against terrorism and banditry in the Sububu Forests of Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
The operation, aimed at dismantling terrorist enclaves and restoring lasting peace to the state, led to the neutralisation of six terrorists, recovery of arms and ammunition, destruction of terrorist infrastructure, and the rescue of a kidnapped underage victim.
The offensive began with a targeted operation at Indulumu village, where troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight, neutralising two of them and recovering one AK-47 rifle.
Advancing to Ruduno village, the Strike Force encountered further resistance but demonstrated superior firepower and tactical expertise, neutralising four additional terrorists.

During the encounter, troops recovered another AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and destroyed two motorcycles used by the terrorists for mobility and logistics.
In a major humanitarian breakthrough, troops, while exploiting deeper into the forest, successfully rescued a kidnapped underage girl identified as Halira Ibrahim, bringing an end to her captivity and renewing hope for affected communities.
The operation also saw the destruction of several terrorist camps and life-support structures in Magaji, Galakaje, Filinga, and Kukatara, significantly degrading the terrorists’ operational capacity and denying them safe havens.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining the offensive until all terrorist elements are eliminated and peace is fully restored across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.
