Troops Nab Suspected Terrorist Supplier, Seize 150 Combat Boots in Zamfara

—

Troops of Sector II under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recorded a significant operational success with the arrest of a suspected logistics supplier to terrorist groups and the recovery of a large cache of tactical equipment in Zamfara State.

According to an operational report made available to The News Chronicle on Thursday, the suspect was apprehended during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Sokoto-Gusau highway on Wednesday.

Military authorities disclosed that the suspect was travelling in a Honda Civic vehicle when troops uncovered a concealed stockpile of military-related items believed to be intended for criminal elements operating in the North-West.

Items recovered from the vehicle included 150 pairs of combat boots, three jackknives, three electric shock devices, a tear gas canister, a military beret, and a belt. Troops also seized two Android mobile phones, an iPad, and a digital wristwatch, all of which are considered to possess potential intelligence value.

The army described the arrest as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle the logistics and supply chains that sustain terrorist and bandit activities across the region.

Security officials noted that disrupting the flow of equipment and resources to criminal groups remains a critical component of counterterrorism operations, as it weakens their operational capacity and limits their ability to carry out attacks.

The suspect is currently in military custody and undergoing further investigation, while the recovered items have been secured as exhibits.

The army added that the operation highlights the effectiveness of intensified stop-and-search missions being conducted under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement and access to operational resources.

Reaffirming its commitment to restoring peace and stability, the Armed Forces of Nigeria pledged to sustain pressure on terrorist groups and their collaborators across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.
