Troops in Taraba apprehend notorious gunrunner, recover arms, ammunition, and cash

The 6 Brigade Nigerian Army has been working hard to keep Taraba State safe from dangerous groups.

Recently, brave soldiers from the 93 Battalion caught a well-known person who was illegally selling guns and ammunition to criminals.

This person, Joshua Dutse Idah, aged 45, was caught on January 20, 2024, in Ibi town. He was driving a blue Volkswagen Sharon car with the plate number Rivers SKN-390AA.

When questioned, Joshua admitted he was going to Katsina State to get AK-47 rifles. The soldiers found a PK machine gun, 399 rounds of ammunition, and 3 AK-47 rifle magazines in his car.

On January 25, 2024, soldiers got information about extremist groups and insurgents in Chanchanji and Sai communities.

They were planning to meet and collect ransom money from the families of abducted victims.

Soldiers waited in Chanchanji and caught Janet Igohia, aged 31, who had picked up one million five hundred thousand naira as ransom payment.

She confessed to being married to Voryor Gata, a leader of a violent group in southern Taraba. Janet had been married to other criminals in the past, including Terkibi Gemaga and Gana Terwase.

In Mararaba Baissa community, soldiers arrested two suspected gunrunners, Alhaji Adamu Damisa, aged 40, and Usman Isah, aged 44. They were involved in killings and stealing cattle.

The soldiers found six hundred and sixty-four thousand naira and two Techno mobile phones with them.

At Forward Operating Base in Bali Local Government Area, soldiers arrested Malam Muhammadu Shuaibu, aged 50.

He was a wanted suspect who had run away after soldiers found three Dane guns in his house in Dakka community.

These arrests show that the army is serious about stopping illegal activities. The suspects and the things they had will be given to the right authorities for investigation and punishment according to the law.

The 6 Brigade Nigerian Army is determined to keep Taraba State safe from criminals. People are asked to help by telling the military about any suspicious activities they see. “Thank you for your cooperation.”
