Troops escalate offensive, seize terrorist stronghold, and recapture heavy artillery gun in Borno

The Nigerian Army’s troops have achieved a breakthrough by seizing control of a stronghold belonging to Boko Haram/Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) in Borno State.
This successful offensive, Operation Desert Sanity III, involved a coordinated effort utilizing artillery and air bombardments, alongside ground combat operations along Ngumne, Kawaran, and Mangu Axis in the Sambisa Forest and Timbuktu Triangle.
Despite encountering threats such as improvised explosive devices and fierce resistance from the terrorists, the troops effectively engaged them with substantial firepower, ultimately dislodging them from their stronghold.
As a result of this operation, the brave troops managed to recover crucial armaments and equipment, including two gun trucks, a 105mm Pack Howitzer, two exploded improvised explosive device cases, and a burnt Rocket-Propelled Grenade tube.
Furthermore, the enclaves utilized by the terrorists were demolished by the advancing troops.
This audacious operation serves as a testament to the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and safeguarding the peace and security of the region.
The retrieval of heavy artillery and gun trucks represents a significant blow to the capabilities of the terrorist organizations operating in the area.
