Troops discover illegal gun manufacturing facility, seize weapons in Plateau

—

The security team of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) in Plateau State recently went on a mission to Mangu local government area, where they discovered a place where guns were being made illegally.

This happened during a search operation in a hilly area, where they found a single building used for making guns in Pakachi Village.

According to Captain Oya James, the Media Information Officer for OPSH, they seized a lot of weapons and ammunition from this place.

They also managed to arrest one suspect, Mr. Tapshak Plangji, who they believe was involved in the illegal activities at the factory.

However, the owner of the factory, Mr. Nuhu Meshack, is still on the run, and the security forces are trying to catch him.

The items they found at the factory include 5 AK 47 rifles, 4 AK 47 magazines, 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 5 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 21 Dane guns, 4 revolver rifles, 11 pistols with 5 magazines, 17 gun barrels, 6 rounds of 0.44 inch ammunition, a carbide cylinder with accessories, 3 saws, and 12 filing machines.

Additionally, they seized 4 hammers, 6 manual drilling machines, 2 electrically operated filing machines, 2 clamps, one spraying machine, one tiger generator, and various drilling irons from the location.

Mr. Plangji and all the weapons and items recovered are currently in the custody of the troops for further investigation.

The statement emphasized the dedication of the troops and their collaboration with other security agencies to combat illegal arms production and distribution, as well as criminal activities in the communities.

It also highlighted the importance of joint efforts between security agencies and local communities in safeguarding the nation from the dangers of illicit arms manufacturing and trafficking.
