1. Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has urged Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to thoroughly investigate pre-election violence, ensuring perpetrators are held accountable.  He called for conclusive investigations, suggesting that those evading police invitations and implicated in violence should be prime suspects. Despite the upcoming election, Bello expressed confidence in the APC government’s performance under his leadership.

2. The Lagos Appeal Court has removed Hon Emeka Nnamani of the Labour Party for certificate forgery, declaring Alex Ikwechegh of APGA as the winner in the Aba North and South Federal Constituency. The court upheld the 2015 ruling that Nnamani forged a degree certificate, barring him from public office for 10 years. This is Nnamani’s second election loss due to certificate forgery.

3. South Africa’s president has ordered 3,300 military personnel to team up with the police for an extended operation until April 2024 against illegal mining, a practice costing the country billions annually. This move is part of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s “Operation Prosper” to enforce law and order, previously used in 2019 to combat gang violence in the Western Cape province.

4. Frustrated Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp gave a post-match interview outside Stadium de Toulouse, where noisy home fans disrupted proceedings. The chaotic atmosphere matched Liverpool’s disappointing 3-2 loss, just two weeks after a 5-1 victory at Anfield. Klopp attributed the defeat mainly to his team’s performance despite grievances over a disallowed goal. Despite notable substitutions, including Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool struggled, showing a lack of flow and clear-cut chances until the frantic final minutes.

5. Popular Nigerian social media figure and transgender, Jay Boogie, has expressed distress after a failed plastic surgery. He urged the public to hold Dr. Dinma of Curvy Girl Essentials responsible for any consequences. He shared details of the surgeon and clinic on Instagram, alleging medical negligence and claiming the surgeon wanted to harm him. Another Nigerian doctor, Loveth Jennifer, accused the clinic of abandoning Jay Boogie, stating that he had been unable to pass urine for 24 hours after surgery. The health facility, in response to public outcry, subsequently locked its social media pages. Meanwhile, controversial Nigerian transgender Bobrisky announced plans for another beauty enhancement surgery in December. He expressed a determination to risk his life to become the most beautiful woman in Nigeria. He emphasized that his real-life appearance surpasses his social media image, expecting to attract wealthy individuals with his enhanced beauty.

6. Keke Palmer is seeking a restraining order and sole custody of her 8-month-old son, Leodis, against Darius Jackson. Palmer, 30, alleged multiple instances of abuse by Jackson, 29, over their two-year relationship. Incidents include a November 5 episode where Jackson trespassed, threatened, and physically assaulted her, as well as other instances of property destruction, harassment, and emotional abuse.

7. Genevieve Nnaji’s film, ‘I Do Not Come To You By Chance,’ is scheduled for a screening at the ongoing Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF). Returning to the movie scene as an executive producer alongside Chinny Carter, the veteran Nollywood filmmaker unveiled her latest project, which marked her comeback five years after the release of the Netflix original ‘Lionheart’ in 2018. The film, based on Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani’s award-winning debut novel of the same title, narrates the compelling story of Kingsley, a first-born son struggling with the challenges of providing for his family as his ailing father’s income diminishes.
