The Ancient Religious Societies of African Descendants International Council (ARSADIC) has announced plans to conduct a special intercessory session for Nigeria and President Bola Tinubu as part of this year’s Osun Osogbo festival.
Chief Ifagbenusola Atanda, President of ARSADIC, revealed this in a statement released in Abuja on Sunday.
According to Atanda, the prayers will be held on August 8, which marks the climax of the revered 14-day Osun Osogbo celebration.
He explained that the current state of the nation and the challenges facing its leadership make it imperative to seek divine intervention, especially during spiritually significant moments like the Osun Osogbo festival, which is believed to bring blessings through the visitation of the Osun deity.
Atanda disclosed that members of the council have already been invited to consult and prepare ahead of the planned prayer ceremony.
Established in 1795, ARSADIC has long served as a custodian of African traditional spirituality and, according to Atanda, remains committed to its divine role, particularly during cultural festivals like Osun Osogbo.
He also noted the global recognition of the Osun Osogbo Sacred Grove, where the spiritual rites take place. The sacred forest was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005 due to its cultural and religious significance.
