Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham’s december film Oversabi Aunty, emerged as the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time in West Africa, according to figures released by its distributor, FilmOne Entertainment.
FilmOne announced that the comedy film grossed ₦711.5 million at the West African box office within 18 days of its release. The update was shared on the distributor’s official social media platforms on early January 2026.
In its statement, FilmOne said:
“In just 18 days, Oversabi Aunty grossed ₦711.5 million, making it the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time in West Africa. Thank you to everyone for the love and support so far.”
The film was released in cinemas nationwide on December 19, 2025, following an advanced screening on December 18. Box office data earlier showed that it earned ₦382,897,436 within its first 11 days, indicating strong audience turnout from its opening week.
With its current earnings, Oversabi Aunty has overtaken Funke Akindele’s Battle on Buka Street (2022), which grossed over ₦660 million, and Omo Ghetto: The Saga (2020), which earned over ₦630 million.
The film’s distributor also noted that it recorded the second-highest opening of 2025 across Nollywood cinemas.
Reacting to the achievement, Toyin Abraham thanked viewers for their support. In a message shared online, she wrote:
“I may not have the perfect words, but my heart is full. Thank you, Lord, and thank you to every single person watching and supporting Oversabi Aunty. I am deeply grateful.”
Oversabi Aunty tells the story of a well-meaning but overly involved aunt whose constant efforts to intervene in other people’s problems lead to a chain of misunderstandings. While largely comedic, the film also explores family relationships and personal boundaries.
The movie features a cast that includes Mike Ezuruonye, Efe Irele, Jemima Osunde, Dike Osinachi (Kidbaby), Adebowale Adedayo (Adedamee), Enioluwa Adeoluwa, and Toyin Abraham.
The film’s success comes amid a strong box office season for Nollywood. During the same period, Funke Akindele’s Behind The Scenes crossed ₦1.767 billion in under four weeks, making it the highest-grossing Nigerian film of 2025 so far, according to FilmOne Entertainment.
