Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has not commented directly on a leaked phone recording in which a fan insults fellow actress Funke Akindele.
The recording lasts 11 minutes and 42 seconds and began circulating on social media on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. It reportedly captures a call between Abraham and a TikTok user known as Bisgold. Most of it is in Yoruba and pidgin English. Bisgold repeatedly insults Funke Akindele. Abraham reportedly laughs and does not caution her. The call also mentions actress Iyabo Ojo and actors Itele and Kemity.
Neither Toyin Abraham nor Funke Akindele has confirmed the recording is authentic. Representatives for both actresses have not commented.
On Thursday, October 15, Abraham reposted a message on Instagram from influencer Bukky Majek, who defended her against critics. She has issued no statement of her own on the audio.
Actress Nkechi Blessing commented on Friday, October 16, in an Instagram video. She said her close ties to the people involved made silence impossible. She told fans who turn actresses against each other: “For how long? You guys need to stop.” She also said she had urged Abraham to set clearer boundaries with her fans, and she warned whoever recorded and leaked the call of consequences. Nkechi urged fans to support Nigerian cinema and named three December releases: The Secret Lives of Babategi’s Wives on December 4, Before Nobody Fights Alone on December 11 and Bestie on December 16.
Social media users have split. Some criticise Abraham’s reported reaction on the call. Others say she did not insult Akindele and that people should judge the full recording.
The audio revives a dispute that began at the March 2026 premiere of Iyabo Ojo’s film The Return of Arinzo. In a video of the event, Akindele appeared not to respond to Abraham’s greeting. Both actresses reportedly unfollowed each other afterward.
On Saturday, October 17, Abraham posted a video responding to a separate rumour, published by blogger Esabod, that her husband Kolawole Ajeyemi had taken a second wife. She spoke to him on camera and joked: “Baba Ire, they said you have married another wife. Where is she?” The couple married in 2019 and have a son, Ireoluwa. Neither has issued a written statement.
Abraham’s next film, Bestie, opens in cinemas on December 16. Veteran actor Pete Edochie plays Papa Ngozi.
