1990: 13 people hospitalized after thousands of fans tried to forcibly gain entrance into a sold-out “New Kids on the Block” concert in Brighton, England.

Politics

1997: This day witnessed the arms control treaty which prohibited the production, storage and use of chemical weapons. This treaty has far been ratified by some 190 countries in the world.

2004: On this day, the National World War II (WWII) Memorial was opened to visitors in Washington DC providing overdue recognition for 16 million men and women who gave their lives in service to their country.

2006: A car bombing in Warri, Delta State in Nigeria destroyed at least five tanker trucks. The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) took responsibility for this attack.
