Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has shared that fans often try to create rivalry between her and other female artists.
She mentioned that fans claim new female artists are trying to take her “throne.”
Instead of competing, Tiwa makes an effort to befriend these new artists because she believes music isn’t a competition.
In a recent BET interview, she said, “Fans always try to pit me against other female artists. Whenever a new female artist appears, they say she’s coming to take my throne.”
Tiwa added, “I make friends with these new artists because it’s not a competition. The real competition is with male artists. I was happy to see Tyla, a female artist, win the Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys over the male nominees.”
