Tinubu’s Road Projects Part of Broader Strategy to Tackle Insecurity — Umahi

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said the President Bola Tinubu administration is leveraging road construction and rehabilitation projects as part of its strategy to address insecurity across Nigeria.

Umahi said the government is undertaking strategic highway projects to strengthen military operations, improve access to remote communities and enhance security, particularly in the North-east.

He made the remarks during the official commencement of road projects at Muna City Gate along the Maiduguri-Dikwa-Gamboru highway over the weekend.

According to the minister, the projects will reconnect communities affected by years of insurgency, stimulate economic activities and improve the movement of security personnel and equipment across the region.

Umahi explained that the roads are designed to support the government’s broader security objectives by providing easier access to border communities and improving logistics for military operations.

“These road infrastructure projects are part of President Tinubu’s broader strategy to tackle insecurity,” he said.

He noted that once completed, the roads would benefit residents of the North-east by strengthening links with neighbouring Chad and Cameroon.

“The greater significance is that our military will have better road networks to sustain operations and confront the remaining pockets of insurgency,” Umahi added.
