President Bola Tinubu is set to present the 2025 budget proposal to a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday, according to Dr. Ali Barde Umoru, Secretary of Research and Information at the National Assembly.
Dr. Umoru confirmed the plan on Monday, stating that preparations are underway, including compiling a list of accredited journalists and individuals allowed into the chamber for the event.
This follows President Tinubu’s earlier submission of the 2024–2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper to the National Assembly three weeks ago.
The Senate Committee on Finance has since approved the framework after discussions with heads of various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies about revenue and spending plans.
The proposed 2025 budget is N47.9 trillion, with new borrowings amounting to N9.22 trillion, according to the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu.
