Tinubu Rejigs Police Academy Council, Names Gaidam Chairman

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reconstituted the 16-member governing council of the Nigeria Police Academy, appointing Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, as chairman.

In a statement made available to The News Chronicle, the newly formed council brings together key institutional players, including the Chairman of the Police Service Commission and the Inspector-General of Police, as well as representatives from the Federal Ministries of Education, Finance, and Justice.

In a move reflecting federal character, the President also named six regional representatives:

  • Babagana Zannah Adam (DCP Rtd.) – North East
  • Emmanuel Torkuma Manger – North Central
  • Maigari Abati Dikko (DIG Rtd.) – North West
  • Dubem A. Obaze (KSM) – South East
  • Ajibogere Toyin – South West
  • Udom Udo Ekpoudom (DIG Rtd.) – South South

The Academy’s Commandant, Provost, and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of training will serve as ex officio members, while the Registrar will act as secretary to the council.

The reconstitution signals a renewed push by the Tinubu administration to strengthen leadership and oversight at Nigeria’s premier police training institution.
