President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) on the occasion of its 75th anniversary, describing the institution as a pillar of communication and national development.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President extended his greetings to the Minister, management, and staff of the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, as well as other sister agencies, in celebration of the milestone marked on April 1, 2026.
Tinubu highlighted the central role of the FRCN as Africa’s largest broadcast network, noting its extensive reach through 47 FM stations and six zonal stations across the country. He affirmed that the corporation has remained a dynamic and influential voice in Nigeria and beyond.
The President commended the FRCN for over seven decades of fostering development communication between leaders, governments, and citizens. He described the organization as a reliable platform for the dissemination of information, education, and entertainment, serving as a vital two-way communication channel.
Reflecting on its historical significance, Tinubu noted that the FRCN has documented Nigeria’s journey from the colonial era to the post-independence period, maintaining archives that have become valuable resources for leaders, scholars, and students.
He also praised the corporation for its longstanding contribution to human capacity development, describing it as a training ground that has produced some of the continent’s finest broadcasters, producers, and sound engineers.
As the FRCN marks its 75th anniversary, the President urged the organization to remain committed to its core mandate and continue to live up to its slogan, “Uplifting the People and Uniting the Nation.”
