President Bola Tinubu has condemned in strong terms the tragic circumstances leading to the death of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Isa Bawa, the District Head of Gatawa District in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
In a statement issued on Wednesday August 21 by the Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, described the brutal attack on the traditional ruler as deeply disturbing and a heinous act that will not go without a decisive response.
While extending his profound condolences to the bereaved family, the Gobir Emirate, and the government of Sokoto State, the President prayed for the repose of the soul of the traditional ruler and comfort to his family at this difficult time.
Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration is aggressively removing threats to ensure the security of the nation and that these desperate acts of terror will be effectively countered.
Similarly, former vice president and presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2023 general election, Atiku Abubakar has extended his sympathy to the family and people of Sokoto state over the death of the traditional ruler.
In a message shared on X, Atiku commiserated with the bereaved family, entire community of Gobir Emirate and the government of Sokoto State on the Sarkin Gobir’s killing.
“The heinous act of violence perpetrated by bandits resulting in the untimely demise of such a revered leader is a stark reminder of the pressing need for enhanced security measures in safeguarding the lives and property of citizens.
“The failure of government to show concern or devise effective security strategies has undoubtedly contributed to the escalation of such distressing events in recent times,” Atiku stated.
He emphasized that government must provide security that will ensure the protection of lives, such that individuals do not have to live in fear of falling victims to senseless acts of violence.
