Tinubu Appoints Bianca Ojukwu as Foreign Affairs Minister, Nominates Enikanolaiye as Minister of State

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs, following the resignation of Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, who reportedly stepped down to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Presidency confirmed the development in a statement made available to The News Chronicle, noting that Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu previously served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

In a related development, the President has nominated Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, subject to Senate confirmation.

Until his nomination, Enikanolaiye, an indigene of Kogi State, served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.

A seasoned diplomat with over three decades of experience, he has served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held diplomatic postings in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.

The Presidency said the appointments form part of efforts to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy architecture for greater efficiency, stronger global engagement, and enhanced strategic partnerships.

President Tinubu congratulated the appointees and charged them to advance Nigeria’s national interest, deepen economic diplomacy, promote regional stability, and safeguard the welfare of Nigerians at home and abroad.
