Timini Egbuson and Sister Dakore Akande Lose Father

Popular Nigerian actor and producer Timini Egbuson has announced the death of his father.

The news was made public on Sunday, January 4, 2026, through a post on Timini’s verified Instagram page.

In the post, the actor wrote, “Didn’t think I’ll start the year saying this … Rest in peace Dad. So much left unsaid, but I’ll keep making you proud.” No details were given about the cause of death or his father’s age.

Timini Egbuson is a well-known figure in Nollywood, with a career spanning film and television acting as well as production. His elder sister, Dakore Egbuson Akande, is also an established actress in the Nigerian film industry. Following the announcement, colleagues, fans, and other public figures shared condolence messages online, expressing sympathy with Timini, Dakore, and their family as they mourn their loss.

 

Several members of the Nigerian film industry and entertainment community have died recently.

Allwell Ademola, a Nigerian actress, film producer and screenwriter, died on Saturday, 27 December 2025, in Agege, Lagos State, She was 43 years old at the time of her death. The she complained of difficulty breathing at her home before being taken to a hospital where she passed away.

Her family announced that a Service of Songs will be held on Thursday, 8 January 2026, followed by her burial on Friday, 9 January 2026, at Atan Cemetery in Yaba, Lagos.
