TikTok removed more than 12 million videos across Sub-Saharan Africa in the fourth quarter of 2025 as part of its intensified efforts to enforce its Community Guidelines and keep the platform safe for users.
The figures were disclosed in the company’s Q4 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, which highlights TikTok’s global content moderation and safety efforts.
Speaking on the report, TikTok’s Communications Lead for Sub-Saharan Africa, Keagile Makgoba, said the platform remains committed to transparency, safety and inclusivity.
“Each quarter we publish a Community Guidelines Enforcement Report. The report highlights TikTok’s unwavering commitment to transparency, safety and inclusivity, reflecting its dedication to building trust and ensuring a safe platform for its global community,” she said.
According to Makgoba, TikTok removed more than 175 million videos worldwide during the quarter, while over 218 million comments were taken down for violating the platform’s Community Guidelines.
She revealed that 45 percent of all comments removed globally were linked to harassment and bullying, offenses classified under TikTok’s Safety and Civility policy.
Makgoba said the platform relies on a combination of advanced artificial intelligence and thousands of trust and safety professionals to detect, review and remove harmful content and accounts.
“We have advanced content moderation technology and thousands of trust and safety professionals protecting our community every day.
“We have invested more than $2 billion in trust and safety efforts from 2025,” she said.
She added that TikTok currently moderates content in more than 70 languages, using specialized guidance and keyword detection systems that also support several African languages, including Hausa.
According to her, the moderation teams work proactively to identify and remove content involving misinformation, incitement and other policy violations, with most offending content taken down before it is reported by users.
Makgoba urged users to play an active role in keeping the platform safe by reporting content and accounts that violate TikTok’s Community Guidelines.
“We encourage everyone in our community to play an active part in keeping TikTok a safe and welcoming place by reporting content they feel violates our Guidelines.
“We also encourage our community members to use the tools we provide on TikTok to report any content or account they believe violates our Community Guidelines,” she said.
She reaffirmed TikTok’s commitment to strengthening its content moderation systems while fostering a safer and more inclusive digital environment for users across the world.
