TikTok has announced the launch of its expanded “Subscription” monetization feature, now available for creators in select regions, including Brazil, France, Germany, Spain, the U.K., Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, and the U.S.
This new initiative aims to empower creators by allowing them to earn revenue through exclusive content.
Previously known as the LIVE Subscription tool, the feature has been rebranded as “Subscription” to include both LIVE and non-LIVE creators, broadening its accessibility.
The Subscription service directly competes with platforms like Patreon, Instagram Subscriptions, and YouTube channel memberships, offering creators an avenue to monetize their content more effectively.
Creators can now offer three subscription tiers, each with varying price points and exclusive perks.
Subscribers will gain access to special videos, LIVEs, and notes, as well as enhanced communication channels through Sub Space, unique stickers for LIVEs, and profile badges.
Moreover, TikTok allows creators to customize perks from a list provided, including performance requests, Discord roles, shoutouts, and behind-the-scenes content, catering to diverse audience interests.
To qualify for the Subscription feature, creators must be at least 18 years old, possess a minimum of 10,000 followers, and have accrued 100,000 video views in the past month, with their accounts in good standing.
This initiative marks a significant step for TikTok in enhancing creator monetization options and fostering community engagement on the platform.
