A killed a teenage student with a machete, because he thought he was a supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Police have arrested three persons.

A teenage student, Gazali Sule, has been killed with a machete by a thug who mistook him for a supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The incident occurred late at night on Sunday 15th of March at Birnin-Kudu LGA, Jigawa State.

Student Pulse gathered that the alleged killer, Abubakar ilu Chani, attacked the deceased near a place where an APC campaign vehicle blared partisan music from its speakers.

It however turned out that Gazali, a final year student of Government Day Secondary School, Birnin-Kudu LGA, was only passing by when he was attacked.

His father told Daily Trust that his son was an innocent victim who had only gone to get a haircut when he met his death.

“…I saw a small gathering of children dancing to music supplied by an APC campaign vehicle in front of the barbing salon near our house, I directed them to go to the salon on the other side of the road,” the father said.

He was standing outside waiting for his turn when Abubakar Chani rushed out with cutlass and started hitting the APC vehicle blaring campaign songs.

“Before my son could take to his heels, Chani hit him with cutlass on the head and he fell into the gutter.

“The cut was so deep that his skull was broken. He died on the way to the hospital.”

The devastated father said his family will pursue the case to logical conclusion.

A second victim, Sani Muhammed, sustained a deep cut in his hand.

Spokesman of the State Police Command, Abdu Jinjiri, said the police have already arrested three suspects. – culled from:
