The Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare is currently investigating three sisters who have held onto the body of their late brother, Mr. Ernest, for over four years, refusing to release it to his wife and children in Nibo, Anambra State.
Operating a prayer ministry, the sisters have also taken control of all the deceased’s property, denying his family access since 2019. Even when Ernest was critically ill, his wife and son were barred from seeing him as the sisters took him to their prayer center.
Despite efforts by Ernest’s family to retrieve and bury his body, they have faced continuous obstacles. This situation has caused immense distress, confirmed by a younger brother of the deceased, who highlighted the sisters’ disruptive behavior, leading to their suspension by the kindred and the Umuada.
In defense, one of the accused, Augustina, justified their actions by claiming the deceased had strained relations with his wife and children while he was alive.
