Three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) have reportedly lost their lives in a tragic explosion incident in Borno State while returning to duty after completing a one-month leave.
According to reports obtained by The News Chronicle on Tuesday night, the victims were on their way back to the Kalabalge LGA when they reportedly stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED), which detonated and killed them instantly.
The incident has thrown the affected community into mourning, as families, friends, and colleagues grieve the painful loss of the fallen civilian JTF members, who were described as brave individuals committed to supporting security efforts in the state.
The tragic development has also renewed concerns over the persistent security threats and dangers posed by explosive devices in conflict affected areas of Borno State.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident as of the time of filing this report.
