In an announcement made on Thursday, the Federal Government has revealed plans to temporarily close the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos for repairs.

The closure is scheduled to begin at midnight on Saturday, October 21 and will last until midnight on Sunday, October 22.

Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, shared details of the impending maintenance work.

The government is prepared to commence comprehensive rehabilitation work on the bridge, starting with critical repairs.

Mrs. Kesha emphasized the importance of informing the motoring public about these plans, as they aim to alleviate the challenges currently faced on the bridge. In preparation for the comprehensive repair works, palliative measures will be carried out on the most critically failed sections along the Adeniji-bound carriageway on Sunday, October 22.

Motorists are advised to cooperate with traffic management officials by following diversions as directed to ensure smooth traffic flow.

During the period of palliative works, the Adeniji-bound side of the bridge will be closed to traffic, starting from Saturday, October 21, until midnight on Sunday, October 22. Commuters are encouraged to seek alternative routes where possible during this temporary closure.
