They Are Not Serious, Driven by Personal Interest — Gov Sani Knocks Opposition

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has criticised Nigeria’s opposition political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, accusing them of pursuing personal ambitions rather than serving the country’s interests.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, monitored by The News Chronicle, on Tuesday, the governor described the opposition as disorganized and lacking clear ideology, saying their members had spent the past few months moving from one political party to another in search of viable platforms.

Sani questioned the opposition’s commitment to national development, arguing that their actions were motivated by self-interest rather than a genuine desire to provide an alternative to the ruling party.

“The current opposition in Nigeria, are they really fighting the ruling party because they believe in Nigeria?” he asked.

“It’s all about their personal interests. These guys are not serious. They are not political parties based on what they believe in or what they can do.

“I don’t think they are organised as you are looking at them. You need to ask them to show you the evidence that the ruling party is fighting them because that’s what they keep saying.

“What’s their own agenda, ideology or philosophy? If you are in a political party, you have to sit down, build, organise and do whatever is necessary to protect the party. You can’t be jumping from one party to another,” the governor said.
