The World Must Not Forget the Christian Genocide in Nigeria- US Congressman Riley Moore Marks Anniversary of Yelwata Massacre

One year after the massacre in Yelwata, Benue State, U.S. Congressman Riley Moore has renewed calls for global attention to what he described as the ongoing persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

In a statement, Moore recalled that Fulani Islamist terrorists attacked the community, killing more than 200 Christians, many of them women and children who had sought refuge at a Catholic mission.

“Today, we remember the martyrs,” Moore said. “The world must not forget the Christian genocide in Nigeria.”

The U.S. lawmaker urged the international community to remain focused on the plight of vulnerable Christian communities and ensure that the victims of the Yelwata killings are not forgotten.
